Every year, shipping publication Allaboutshipping.co.uk attributes the most affluent women in shipping to their Top 100 list. Hafnia is very proud to announce that, our very own Head of People, Culture & Strategy, Mia Krogslund Jørgensen (VP), has topped the ranking, coming in at number 4.
The Top 100 Women in Shipping recognizes women committed to driving a real change in the maritime industry globally. For the 2022 ranking (released in 2023), a total of 1350 women were considered, with a final ranking consolidated via peer recommendation.
Mia Krogslund Jørgensen started her career at TORM in 2006, quickly rising in the ranks as a young talent. Between 2006 to 2012, she excelled from a Shipping Trainee to an Operations and CSR specialist. In 2012, she formed part of the founding team of Hafnia, which today in 2023 stands as a leading product and chemical tanker company.
Mia is the Head of the Hafnia Copenhagen office, a member of the global Executive Management Team and also Head of Hafnia´s People, Culture and Strategy (PCS) team. The PCS team acts as a key anchor in our overall business, responsible for our largest business asset – which is the success and wellbeing of our people.
Mia has been instrumental in creating, implementing, and living our “People First” culture, and in overseeing our ESG ambitions together with respective team leads, especially across measures that work towards improving diversity in shipping, and in efforts transitioning towards a greener future.
This can be tangibly measured in 2022, where culture at Hafnia hit a record high. Results of a recent anonymous survey conducted by the Diversity Study Group (DSG) showcased that 86 % of Hafnia employees feel safe to speak up at work, and that 92% or employees feel they can be themselves. Benchmarked as a high industry standard – Mia has been pivotal in setting initiatives to enhance the working culture at Hafnia.
Mia takes an active voice in promoting diversity in shipping, within forums like the All Aboard Alliance (part of the Global Maritime Forum) and The Diversity Study Group (DSG). She actively provides her thought leadership and expertise on the subject, bringing forward case studies launched at Hafnia to the industry as a whole, – with initiatives that include the use of data for improvement, awareness training implemented policies and collaborative efforts.
On celebrating Mia´s inclusion into this list, Hafnia CEO Mikael Skov, states “Mia’s value to our company, and the industry on the very important topic of diversity, amongst others, is limitless – and we want to see that recognised in the wider market. Besides honouring the influential women in our industry, it is also an important way of helping the industry moving forward in terms of generating attention to underrepresented genders, and in highlighting their valuable work.”
A huge congratulations to Mia!
